Myopia Management can significantly reduce or even stop the progression of myopia.
At our practice in Deal, Kent, our optometrists can advise you on the best options available for your needs.
What is Myopia Management?
Whilst there is currently no cure for Myopia (short sightedness), clinical evidence has proven that a personalised eye care plan for children (also known as Myopia Management) can significantly reduce or even stop the progression of myopia.
The process works by minimising myopia progression, so the most severe effects of high myopia can be decreased.
An Optometrist will prescribe specific glasses or contact lenses designed to slow the progress of myopia, alongside regular eye tests to check how well the treatment is working.
How do I know if Myopia Management is the right option for my child?
Our optometrists will lead this discussion if they feel your child may benefit from Myopia Management. They will talk you through the different options available to you.
If you’d like to know more about this service or find out if it would be suitable for your child, please ask one of our team.
Is there a cost for Myopia Management?
Myopia Management lenses can also be more expensive than regular lenses. We offer a pay monthly option to help spread the cost of any of our glasses and sunglasses.
Myopia Management is not currently an NHS service.
